States Of Aggregation (2011)

1  Silver Screen   4:19

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

My dream was to be a movie star
I started as an extra driving a car
I showed up as a bandit who was shot dead
Next role was a waiter who stumbled on a cat

After a cook, a trucker, and a passer-by
My first bigger part was to sing a lullaby
In thirty movies I died thousands of deaths
By knives, guns, chain saws, accidents, by stones and naked hands

My first part as a dandy brought me the fame
I became the super lover, young women screamed my name
So I moved to L.A. and spent all free time
With a celluloid goddess I thought she was mine
Then I found her in bed with a so-called friend
And a huge dose of blow put her to an end

Watch your heroes on the silver screen, silver screen
See them suffer on the silver screen, silver screen
Heroes love and hate on the silver screen, silver screen
Actors often die on the silver screen, silver screen

Watch your heroes on the silver screen, silver screen
They suffer not only on the silver screen, silver screen
Heroes love not only on the silver screen, silver screen
Actors die not only on the silver screen, silver screen

2   Not The Devil   4:41

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

Some say I am cruel
Iniquitous and vicious
Some say I want to harm them
And sadistically tease them
All not true

Some say I want to take them out
To foil their future plans
To impede their career
They say I am the Devil
All not true

As if I wear horns
As if I am covered with hairs
As if I have a tail with tassle
As if I reek of brimstone
Nooo

I am not the devil
I am not the devil
I am not the devil
I am worse than the devil
I am the evil incarnate
I am the Joker

I do not understand
Why people do not like me
I do not understand
Why people fear my smile

3   In A Hurry   4:35

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

I run up the stairs
I take two steps at once
I must not miss that date
I have to meet that guy
I run down the stairs
Take two, three steps at once
Got to attend that meeting
I must not miss that talk
I run up to my room
I got to write that message
I must not miss to phone
I have to go to lunch

I try to escape
My end of life
The faster I run
The nearer it comes
It breathes down my neck
I know I never can ever win this race

I run down the stairs
I hasten to my next talk
I sprint to my office
I must not miss that guy
I run to get my coat on
I have to reach my bus
I take three steps at once
I run to see my mistress
I struggle to get supper
I hurry for a bath
I try to flee from sleep
Each time I lose this race

I try to escape
My end of life
The faster I run
The nearer it comes
It breathes down my neck
I know I never can ever win this race
I know

4   Sleeping With Hares   4:14

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

When the sun goes down
The day makes way for night
Shadows grow until they fade
And tinge all with grey light
This is the time when some start life
And go diving through neon - who cares
Others prefer to close the day
Watch their kids sleeping with hares

Twilight gets the upper hand
Dark guises stray tired and drunk
A couple remains in kisses
Some hoboes dig into junk
The last pub spews, revellers leave
Still they have time to spare
Others suspire in cushions deep
And keep sleeping with hares

So some go to bed
When others yet get up
The rising sun glows orange and red
Fingers are warmed on a coffee cup
The night ebbs away, a short phase of calm
The day takes a run-up for a start
All night owls go home and seek their beds
Sleeping with hares or sleeping apart

With these two worlds I picture for you
I am familiar since I can think
No sense to complain, nothing to do
Long sleep is my missing link
My dreams are short, even so they are wild
Folks, listen, that is hardly fair
I envy every little child
Who lies in the arms of a hare

My dreams are short, my dreams are wild
I can not sleep long that is hardly fair
Give me back my missing link
Let me stay sleeping with hares

5   Stronghold   6:04

INSTRUMENTAL

(Music: Hans Maier)

6   Equilibrium   5:49

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

You came into my life and mixed it all up
My first reflex has been to grab
For all the fragments floating away
It made no sense to lute all what was torn
No way to hold the disintegrating system together

I had lost ground in my former life
I felt alone and forsaken
Then your gravity trapped me
A path opened up
Since then I orbit around you
So see me stand here
With my both feet firmly on the ground
A worthy state of equilibrium

Do not tell me fairy tales
Do not tell me chimeraes
I have seen the truth
I have found the sense of all

7   Sometimes You Are   5:15

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

Sometimes you are like a gentle breeze
Gracefully you hover around me

Sometimes you are like a burbling brook
Meandering through my mind

Sometimes you are like a plate of granite
Immoveable and bullet-proof

Sometimes you are like a puff of air
Waving through my hair

Sometimes you seem to me to be like a steep
A careless step makes me slide

Sometimes you are like a vivid liquid
You wash around my feet

Sometimes you are like a rambler in the storm
Seeking shelter from wind and rain

Sometimes I see high spirits in your eyes
You pit your strength against my ready wit and you win

Sometimes you are like a burbling brook
Meandering through my mind

Sometimes you are like a gentle breeze
Gracefully you hover around me

Sometimes you are

8   Crimson Secret   5:03

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

There is a little secret
I keep since I was young
I found it hidden under fern leaves
Between the roots of ancient trunks
Deeply hidden in my hand
I hold this smooth round stone
Of blue and green
I watch it change to orange
When darkness comes
I hold it up to the stars and see it glow
I look through it
And see things get clear and sharp
I lay it upon my heart
And feel you are a part of me

The only human
I ever let this know was you
We sat under a sea of stars
And I freed it from my pocket deep
The stone in my hand shed crimson light
And covered us with silvery sparkling flour

These are the moments
Which only we both can share
Nobody else understands
What is the secret
Behind our love
Which links us together
Maybe forever

9   Gender Stereotypes   5:00

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

I open the door and enter the room
Some shoes on the floor thrown down like for doom
I find one drawer unclosed, the laundry stacked neatly
All nightgowns I suppose, its smell reminds me sweetly of you

Your table at the right its mirror reflects me
A necklace shining bright, some bracelets made of birch tree
All gems there on the surface seem to be left for years
Just like my lonely heart although I had shed no tears
This morning when we were torn apart

I put the kids to bed, tell them they are not alone
Soon you will return from work into our home
I prepare the meal to make your palate swing
Some purple wine takes breath, my arms wide open like wings

When you leave me in the morning
We are riven brutally
In the evening we are rewarded
When you cast a spell on me

                            10   Unhealthy Addiction   3:57

(Music and lyrics: Hans Maier)

You are my treasure

In all these years we share

For you I will care

You are my pleasure

You are a fountain

Of youth you donate to me

You lick my wounds

So they won´t sting anymore

Cheek in my palm

Hands grab and let down my hair

Arms around my neck

Mouth opens like a dragon´s lair

Your tongue just so sweet

Now fires with words

They hit my heart offbeat

And flush up like birds

To make room

For your lips in full bloom

Addicted to you

I will stand all you do

For you I want to care

Over years we will share

Love causes pain

Pain causes love again

Addicted to you
